Who is your typical client?
My typical client is everyone! I love meeting and working with new people and discovering their styles.
What's your favorite part about being a stylist?
I love that I can help people feel confident with themselves and style people so they can feel their best for any occasion. Since I personally wear more casual outfits, I find that I can shine as a stylist when filling gaps in client's closets. However, I do love having the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and style clients for special occasions.
What's the process when a client comes to the store to meet with you?
When a client comes to the store to meet with me, I like to get a general idea of what they're looking for, whether it's an outfit for a specific event or just looking to fill holes in their closet! Once I get a good idea of their goals, I give them a chance to look around and find things themselves while pulling pieces I think would fit their criteria.
I always make sure to check on clients while they are trying on their options in the dressing room; that is where I can help the most — offering different ways to wear pieces or finding ways to replace pieces that didn't work out the first time.
What's your style philosophy?
My style philosophy is finding a piece you can be excited about and styling the outfit around that item. Being excited about what you are putting on your body can change your whole perspective of the day or the event you are attending.
What is your favorite brand?
My favorite brand is Daydreamer. They have the best graphic tees and sweatshirts, and I can't even count the number of pieces I have bought from them over the years. Their T-shirts are so comfy and seem to look good on everyone.
Also, I am a big fan of music, and they have the best selection of band tees. My favorite thing to grab for a client is a graphic tee, so having Daydreamer in Garbarini is the best.
What are 3 essentials you think every woman should have in her closet?
My top 3 essentials that every woman should have in her closet are a solid pair of jeans (preferably baggy), a cute pair of chunky sneakers, and a medium-sized, neutral-colored purse that you can wear with every outfit.
Where do you find style inspiration?
I find style inspiration everywhere, whether through social media platforms like Pinterest or Instagram or just people watching. If I see someone on the street wearing a top or shoes I love, I'll ask them about it. It is so nice that we can find inspiration so easily these days. Every day I find a new way to be inspired.
What clothing items should you splurge on? Where can you save?
Jeans and denim!! A good pair of jeans will last as long as it's good quality! And you can wear it in so many ways, so it's a good closet staple that you should totally splurge on. I would save on basics such as tanks and tees. You can wear these things underneath sweaters or just throw them on with whatever.
How do you style an oversized button-up?
My favorite way to style an oversized button-up is to make it look like a cover-up of some sort — super casual. I would pair it with denim jeans or shorts and half-tuck it to give you some waist. Then, add a bunch of jewelry and some chunky boots or fun sneakers. Cute, comfy, and casual!
Is there a certain color palette you should stick to when shopping?
I love muted colors and earthy tones. I tend to stick with neutrals because they complement me the best. If I use a bright color, I stick with deeper blues and greens. I like to shop for things that all go together in some way or another.
What's the best way to layer your clothes in the winter?
I always run hot, so I layer in a way that allows me to remove some of what I wear if I get too hot inside. It's usually a T-shirt or tank, then a chunky sweater on top and an overcoat or puffer jacket over that. To keep warm, I always pair wool socks under cute, chunky shoes.
How is fashion evolving into 2024?
We live in a very interesting time for fashion. With social media and having all the information you could ever need at your fingertips, it seems like everything is in right now. I think many people lean toward comfy street style and are still getting over the athleisure that was popular during Covid.
Fashion is kind of all over the place, and I love it because I can find inspiration from anyone and everyone, as everyone seems to have a different sense of what is in style right now.
