About Coco

If you've shopped at Garbarini in person, you've probably seen or worked with our stylist, Coco. That's because she's been a part of the team since 1990! Though she's worked in many roles throughout her time here, she loves styling as it allows her to empower women through fashion. 

Discover some of her best fashion advice and tips.

Who is your typical client?

The beauty of Garbarini is that there is no set type of client. I've helped clients prepare for a wide range of events, from their first interview to a retirement trip and everything in between.

What's the process when a client comes to the store to meet with you?

The first step is to get a feel for their current wardrobe and the places we can enhance it. But finding pieces that make the client excited is the most important part of the whole process!

What's your style philosophy?

Pick clothes and accessories that make you feel powerful. If you don't feel confident and stylish in your outfit, you aren't going to wear it. 

Who is your favorite designer?

It's hard to commit to just one. However, I will say Helmut Lang does beautiful, edgy, classic designs.

What are 3 essentials you think every woman should have in her closet?

The three things every woman should have in her closet are a great pair of boots, the perfect handbag, and a leather jacket that can complete an outfit.

Where do you find style inspiration?

I have always felt that film and music are an extension of fashion style.

Which trends are worth investing in this year, and which ones should be avoided?

This year, because there are so many new cuts, a great blazer is going to be a must! That said, it's important to avoid anything too trendy and think ahead to future seasons where the perfect blazer will translate.

How do you effectively combine colors in an outfit?

I love to go unexpected with color combinations. Mix the pink with the brown and the chartreuse with the purple. Don't be afraid to have fun with color pattern combinations! 

What are some stylish ways to layer clothes in the summer without getting too hot?

A cropped jean jacket is always the perfect summer layer. It's easy to put over almost anything and usually quite cute tied around the neck or waist.

How long should I keep something in my closet that I don't really wear anymore?

When switching seasons in my closet, if I didn't wear something once in the previous season, it needs to go. I'm a big fan of one in, at least one out.

How do you determine the most flattering pant style for each body type?

When picking the perfect pants, you really need to consider your whole body type and work from there. The same pair of pants will not look best with all tops, jackets, or shoes.

What are the best dresses to wear to a summer wedding based on dress code?

I have always been a fan of Samantha Sung. Her patterns and cuts are so beautifully classic with an edge that they would work for most summer weddings.
