Designer Spotlight: Byron Lars
Over the past month, we have seen our country come together at demonstrations fighting against systemic racism. If you’ve been searching for ways to step up and play a part in helping the community, think about the designers you wear. Supporting Black fashion designers is one way to show that you are an ally. Here, we spotlight one of our favorite Black designers, Byron Lars.
“When edgy fashion is steeped in something familiar, it becomes far less alienating to the consuming public.” -Byron Lars
Byron Lars is an American fashion designer who started designing under his own label in 1991. The line started as a small collection of sportswear and was picked up by retailers like Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and Bloomingdales across the United States. After his second season in business, Lars was named “Rookie of the Year” by Women’s Wear Daily.
In 2001, Lars decided to go in a different direction with his line and began Byron Lars Beauty Mark. Beauty Mark allowed Lars to expand his product line to include knits, sportswear, and dresses, in addition to the chic and sexy shirts for which his line is highly sought after, without the higher price point.
Since he entered the scene, Lars has been able to dress a number of notable figures, including Olympic gold medalists and Michelle Obama. He has also designed custom clothes and at least 19 dolls for Barbie.
We are proud to carry Byron Lars designs at Garbarini.
One of our most coveted Bryan Lars Beauty Mark looks is the Hot Cha Cha Sapphire Sheath.
This cap sleeve sheath silhouette hugs your body in all the right places. Its rouched side panels allow the dress to stretch with ease, making it comfortable and suitable for every body type. Plus, the metallic print and open neckline make it perfect for wearing from the office to dinner. You’ll feel feminine and romantic when you pair the dress with skinny strap heels. This dress from Beauty Mark will be one that you return to over and over again.

Protests about police brutality, systemic racism, and racial injustices are still going strong. That’s because these are not issues that can be fixed overnight. More than ever, it's important that we band together and speak out against these injustices. To help make real change, we need to patronize Black-owned businesses that provide economic opportunity and support not just now but every day.
